Wills
Single wills
One person, one set of wishes, set out clearly. A single will suits anyone who wants their own arrangements, whether or not they have a partner.

Who a single will is for
A single will is simply a will for one person. It is the right choice if you are single, widowed or divorced, but it also suits couples whose wishes differ, or who have children from earlier relationships and want to make separate provision.
It covers everything a will should: who inherits, who acts as executor, guardians for children under eighteen, specific gifts, and any funeral wishes.
Things we will talk through
- Who you would like to benefit, and in what shares
- Who you trust to act as your executors
- Guardians for any children under eighteen
- Gifts of particular items, sums of money or donations to charity
- What should happen if a beneficiary dies before you
Hand delivered, properly witnessed
When your will is ready we hand deliver it rather than posting it, go through it with you, and make sure it is signed and witnessed correctly. If you would like it stored safely afterwards, we can talk through the options.
Common questions
I have a partner. Do we need mirror wills or two single wills?
If you both want the same arrangements, mirror wills are usually the simpler option. If your wishes differ, or you each have children from earlier relationships, two single wills may suit you better. We can talk it through.
Can I change my single will later?
Yes, at any time while you have capacity. Small changes can sometimes be made with a codicil, but a new will is often clearer.
What if I own property abroad?
Property overseas can be affected by the law of that country. Tell us about it and we will explain how it should be dealt with, which may mean a complex will.
