How it works
From first chat to signed documents, step by step
Most people put off making a will because they expect it to be complicated. It is not. Here is what happens when you get in touch.
Four simple steps
Step 1: Get in touch
Tell us a little about what you need. We will arrange a time to talk that fits around you.
Step 2: We meet and listen
We can come to your home, or meet wherever is easiest. We go through your family, your wishes and your assets, and answer your questions as we go.
Step 3: We prepare your documents
Your documents are drafted around what you have told us, in clear language. If anything needs changing, we change it.
Step 4: Hand delivered for signing
We bring the finished documents to you rather than posting them, go through them together and make sure they are properly signed and witnessed.
What is useful to think about beforehand
You do not need to have everything decided before we meet, but it helps to have a rough idea of who you would like to benefit, who you would trust to act as executors or attorneys, and who should look after any children under eighteen. A simple list of what you own, such as your home, savings, pensions and any life insurance, is also useful.
After your documents are signed
A will is not something you make once and forget. Marriage, divorce, a new child or grandchild, a house move or a change in your finances can all mean it needs a fresh look. We are always happy to talk through whether an update is needed.
Common questions
Do I need to come to an office?
No. Home visits are available across Norfolk and Suffolk, and we hand deliver your documents for signing.
Can I change my will later?
Yes. A will can be updated at any time while you have the capacity to do so, either with a short addition called a codicil or, more often, with a new will that replaces the old one.
Who can witness my will?
In England and Wales a will must be signed in the presence of two independent adult witnesses. A witness, or their spouse or civil partner, should not be someone who benefits under the will. We make sure this is done properly when we deliver your documents.
Ready to talk it through?
Get in touch and we will arrange a time that suits you. We are happy to come to your home if that is easier.
