Will writing in Bungay

Bungay is a small town with a long memory, tucked into a loop of the River Waveney with Norfolk just across the bridge. We help families in the town and the villages around it with wills, lasting powers of attorney and trusts, visiting at home at a time that suits.

Looking after Bungay and the Waveney valley

From the castle ruins and the Buttercross to the common and the river, Bungay is a place where people know their neighbours. Many of the people we meet have lived here for decades; others have moved to the valley for the quiet. We visit homes in the town and in the surrounding villages: Earsham, Ditchingham and Broome on the Norfolk side, Flixton, Mettingham, Barsham and the Ilketshalls on the Suffolk side, and out towards Harleston and Loddon.

Farming, smallholdings and rural businesses are common here, and so are family homes that have been passed down. We take the time to understand what you own and how you want it to pass on, then write your will around it.

At home, in your own time

We come to you. A conversation at your own table, documents drafted around what you tell us, and a second visit to hand deliver them for signing and make sure they are properly witnessed. Nothing goes in the post.

Things Bungay families often ask us about

  • Passing on a smallholding, farm or rural business
  • Lasting powers of attorney for a parent who wants to stay in their own home
  • Protecting a share of the house for children if the survivor needs care
  • Mirror wills for couples
  • Trusts for a child or grandchild who needs long term support

Questions from Bungay families

Do you cover the Norfolk villages across the river?

Yes. Earsham, Ditchingham, Broome, Kirby Cane and the villages towards Loddon and Harleston are all within our area.

My parents are in their eighties and do not travel. Can you see them at home?

Yes. Home visits are how we work. We will see them at home and make sure they understand and agree with everything in their documents.

Can you help with a will that includes land or a farm?

Yes. Agricultural property needs careful drafting and may have tax implications, so we explain the options and point you to a regulated adviser for anything that depends on your tax position.

Do you also cover Beccles and Halesworth?

Yes, both are close by and we visit them regularly.

Ready to talk it through?

Get in touch and we will arrange a time that suits you. We are happy to come to your home if that is easier.
